Sperry Software

How to Troubleshoot a "Trojan.Crypt.Cfi.F VIRUS in the INSTALLATION FILE" message.

SYMPTOMS
When installing the Sperry Software add-ins, you receive the following message from your anti-virus software:

Trojan.Crypt.Cfi.F VIRUS in the INSTALLATION FILE

CAUSE
This message is generated by some anti-virus programs because they see the application files are encrypted.  The anti-virus is unable to process the application files, so it incorrectly marks this as a virus.  Sperry Software add-ins DO NOT contain any virus, malware, spyware or any other type of unwanted functionality.

RESOLUTION
All of the add-in installation packages are built on machines running updated anti-virus software.   Sperry Software is very careful not to post up files with a virus to its customers.  If the anti-virus has the ability to ignore this error on for the Sperry Software installer package, choose that option to continue using the add-in.

** This has only been reported by customers that are using BitDefender.
