What’s New

Most of “what’s new” is available on our blog. Below is a summary of what has changed in version 8.2 of our classic desktop Outlook add-ins. You can also have the add-in check for the most recent version by following the instructions in this article on how to check for updates.

Version 8.2 Highlights

Version 8.2 is a foundational update to our line of classic desktop Outlook COM add-ins. These changes do not apply to our subscription apps for Microsoft 365 — such as Safeguard Send for Microsoft 365, Send Individually for Microsoft 365, or Schedule Recurring Email for Office 365 — which are continuously updated.

Platform and Support Updates

  • Moved to .NET Framework 4.8.1. Version 8.1 was built on .NET Framework 4.6.2, which reaches Microsoft’s end of support on January 12, 2027. Version 8.2 targets .NET Framework 4.8.1, which is in active support indefinitely as long as it is installed on a supported version of Windows. If you are still on version 8.1, we recommend upgrading before that date.
  • Support for Outlook 2024. Version 8.2 is validated to run on Outlook 2024 in addition to Microsoft 365, Outlook 2021, Outlook 2019, and Outlook 2016.
  • Refreshed third-party libraries. The supporting libraries used by the add-ins have been updated for security and compatibility.

Individual Add-In Improvements

Timed Email Organizer

  • Added a hotkey to invoke all rules on demand. The default hotkey is F8, and you can change it in the add-in’s settings.

Power Rules Manager

  • Sort order is remembered. If you click a column header to sort the list of rules, edit a rule, and save it, the grid now keeps your preferred sort order instead of resetting to the default execution-order sort.
  • Batch delete. You can now select multiple rules (or all of them with Ctrl-A) and delete them in a single operation, instead of one at a time.
  • Batch enable/disable. Select one or more rules (or press Ctrl-A to select all), then click in the Enable column to toggle them all together. This makes it much easier to test rule sets.
  • Expanded Backup/Restore. Backup now writes both our human-readable XML file and a native Outlook RWZ file. Restore accepts either format — just choose the file you want to restore from.

Auto Print Pro, Save As PDF Pro, and Attachment Save Pro

  • Fixed a shared-mailbox issue where some emails could be skipped during processing.
